Victoria defeated in Blind and Vision Impaired title

Victoria was unable to defend its total of 2-183 after 20 overs, as ladder-leaders South Australia/Western Australia claimed victory with more than three overs to spare at McDonald Reserve.

Earlier in the contest, Victorian Openers Daniel Pritchard (79) and Ned Brewer-Maiga (54 retired hurt) set a strong foundation for Victoria’s innings.

But the South Australia/Western Australia openers were equal to the task.

South Australian duo Ricky Segura and Stephen Palmer batted right through the innings, chasing down the total in 16.3 overs.

Segura (83 not out) and Palmer (79 not out) were brilliant with the bat, putting in a clinical display to lead their side to victory and the national championship title.

Blind and Vision Impaired – Grand Final result:

Victoria 2-183cc off 20 overs (D. Pritchard 79, N. Brewer-Maiga 54 rt hurt)
South Australia/Western Australia 0-184 off 16.3 overs (R. Segura 83*, S. Palmer 79*)

About the National Cricket Inclusion Championships
The 2017 National Cricket Inclusion Championships (NCIC) was held in Geelong. It brings together Australia’s best blind and vision impaired, deaf and hard of hearing, and cricketers with an intellectual disability to compete for one of three titles on offer.

The inaugural NCIC, which featured 15 teams and more than 230 players, was staged from January 17-24. It was the first time in Australian sport that these three divisions played as part of one competition.
