What are the Community Cricket Awards?

The Community Cricket Awards aim to:

  • Celebrate the Community Cricket Achievements
  • Recognise and promote the work of clubs and individuals
  • Inspire through story telling
  • Create and sustain a culture of volunteering

Community Cricket Club of the Year

A community cricket club that actively creates welcoming environments and seeks to create sustainable participation and growth through good governance, volunteer support and inclusive on field programs

Community Cricket Association of the Year

A Cricket Association that actively works to create a sustainable competition that provides opportunities for everyone to have the chance to be involved in cricket

Community Cricket Coach of the Year

A coach who exemplifies coaching The Australian Way. Someone who has gone out of their way to make sure that participants are supported to develop both their skills and a lifelong love of cricket

Young Leader of the Year

A young person, under the age of 25 who positively impacts those around them through their off-field leadership in volunteering

Community Partnership of the Year

This award recognises outstanding leadership and support in building community based partnerships that provide positive outcomes to the Cricket community (E.g. Local Government, multiple sporting clubs, community not for profit groups etc)

Women and Girls Initiative of the Year

This award looks to celebrate the outstanding delivery of female based experiences by finding clever or innovative ways to engage and grow their program

Technology & Media Initiative of the Year

An individual, club or association who has used technology to create a connection to it’s members, whether by reducing volunteer time, connecting members through social media or enhancing participant experience

Community Match Official of the Year

An umpire or match official (such as a scorer) who leads by example in championing safe, fair and enjoyable cricket for all

Inclusion and Diversity Initiative of the Year

This award looks to acknowledge the outstanding delivery of diverse and inclusive experiences by finding clever and innovative ways to engage and grow their offering

Junior Cricket Initiative of the Year

This award looks to acknowledge the outstanding delivery of junior cricket experiences by finding clever and innovative ways to engage and grow their junior offering with a focus on education, fun and social connection

Indoor Facility of the Year

An Indoor facility that embraces the connection with the community and cricket to provide the best program experience to its participants

Celebrating Cricket in Schools

A school, ambassador or initiative that celebrates the connection between School, student and the broader cricket community

 

Award Criteria

Entries will be assessed on work undertaken between 1 January 2023 and 1 January 2024. Nominations are required to address each of the following criteria:

  • Brief summary of the nominee
  • What are some specific initiatives or examples that showcase the great work of the nominee?

Eligibility

Entries are invited from individuals, clubs, associations, competitions, stakeholders and partner organisations who contribute to the delivery of community cricket in Victoria. We want to recognise and reward all of the amazing work taking place across the state including the desire to embrace diversity and make cricket a sport for all Australians. Please note:

  • The person, organisation or program nominated must have been active during the period 1 January 2023 to 1 January 2024.
  • Cricket Victoria reserves the right to determine whether a nomination meets the eligibility criteria for entry into the Awards.
  • Self-nominations are accepted. Nominations on behalf of other people/organisations are accepted with their written consent, which you warrant has been obtained by submitting a nomination.
  • National, State and Territory Cricket Association employees and their immediate families are ineligible for nomination for Awards on their own behalf, however may nominate other people or organisations. · Nominations are accepted from Australian residents only.
  • Nominations are assessed by an independent judging panel drawn from cricket and the broader community.

It is important you read and understand the criteria before completing your submission and clearly address all selection criteria. The Nominee and the Nominator will receive confirmation from Cricket Victoria via email that the nomination has been received.

Conditions of Entry

  • Nominations must be received by Cricket Victoria no later than 11.59PM on Sunday 11th of February 2024. No alterations to applications will be permitted after this date. Cricket Victoria reserves the right to change the date that nominations close.
  • Each person/project/organisation can only be nominated once per category, although organisations can nominate multiple projects or individuals.
  • Each nomination requires a separate entry form to be completed addressing the award criteria.
  • If a nomination is for a project that has been developed by a number of partners, the project must be authorised by the consortium, nominating one partner as the lead.
  • The judging panel reserves the right to waive the Award in one or more categories, if in the opinion of the judges, there are no suitable nominations.
  • Awards will be presented to the ‘winning’ organisation/s or person/s named as the ‘Nominated organisation or person’ or ‘Nominee’.
  • The judge’s decisions are final; no correspondence will be entered into.
  • If an award winner is under 18 years of age, they must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian when attending any related event or to claim their Award. Each Award winner (and their accompanying parent/guardian/companion/invitees, if any) agrees to comply with any conditions of entry imposed by the venue operator. Cricket Victoria reserves the right to display details of the winning entry (or part thereof) on the venue vision screens, on social media or any other form of broadcast or publication, with or without attribution, in accordance with these Conditions of Entry, in our sole discretion.
  • Cricket Victoria accepts no responsibility for any problems or technical malfunction of any communication network or for any lost, incomplete, incorrectly submitted, delayed, illegible, corrupted or misdirected entry forms, whether due to error, omission, tampering, or otherwise. Entry forms that do not comply with the requirements will not be assessed.
  • To the extent permitted by law, Cricket Victoria will not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever (including direct or consequential loss) or personal injury suffered or sustained in connection with the Awards. Cricket Victoria accept no responsibility for any tax liabilities that may arise from winning an Award.
  • Nomination and entry forms must not include any content that contravenes any law or is obscene, offensive, potentially defamatory, discriminatory, indecent, objectionable or inappropriate or infringes the rights of any person (including intellectual property rights) and by including any such content in your nomination or entry form, you confirm you have the owner’s permission to enter and for the nomination and entry form to be dealt with in accordance with these Conditions of Entry.

Use of Entries and Promotional Activities

  • By submitting an entry form for, or agreeing to participate in the Awards, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to the terms of the Australian Cricket Privacy Policy (available at www.cricket.com.au/privacy or by emailing privacy@cricket.com.au) and Collection Statement (available at www.cricket.com.au/collection-statement). In addition, you understand and agree that Cricket Australia and Cricket Victoria may use and disclose the personal information provided by or about you for the purpose of conducting the Awards and for any of the purposes set out in Australian Cricket’s Privacy Policy, which contains information about how you may access and seek correction of your personal information or complain about a breach of your privacy, and how Australian Cricket will deal with that complaint.
  • If requested by Cricket Victoria, each Award winner must participate in all promotional activity (such as publicity and photography) surrounding the winning of an Award, including a description of your project/entry form, and any supporting materials supplied free of charge. You consent to Cricket Victoria or CitiPower using your name, likeness, image and/ or voice (including photograph, film and/or recording of the same) in any media, for any purpose associated with the Awards and/or cricket, including for advertising and promotional activities, in perpetuity without compensation.
