An encouraging reward

With the aim of encouraging athletes to keep participating in their chosen sport, the Award is presented to a recipient that inspires a positive sporting environment.

Having started playing disability cricket at age 14, Hopkins immediately adopted a supportive nature, giving his best at all times.

The now 18-year-old first started playing disability cricket for the Ringwood Spiders before moving to Croydon Ranges.

Having participated at the state carnival, the all-rounder has earned selection in the Victorian Vikings, the state’s representative team, on three occasions.

Last year, Hopkins was given the opportunity to lead the Vikings, being named as captain in their match against the Harmony in Cricket XI.

Also playing club cricket at Croydon Ranges, the 2013-14 season has seen Hopkins pile on 222 runs and claim 19 wickets after 11 matches.

Cricket Victoria would like to congratulate Daynah Hopkins on receiving the VICSRAPID Encouragement Award.
