School Sports Awards
Clementine Ryan-Fuller, Tom Loveridge, Isabella Gietzmann and Kieran Elliott were all recognised at this year’s award ceremony.
Awarded the Primary School Sporting Blue Award, Port Melbourne Primary School’s Ryan-Fuller was selected as a member of the School Sport Victoria (SSV) 12-and-under girls’ cricket team, claiming bronze at the Australian Championships.
The all-rounder was also selected in the under-14’s South East Bayside Breakers team in the VicSpirit Pathway Program.
Malvern Central School’s Loveridge was also acknowledged in the Primary School division, performing well in the SSV 12-and-under team at the 2012 national championships.
As co-captain, Loveridge proved to be a leader both on and off the field, displaying strong sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
In the Secondary School division, a Sporting Blue Award was awarded to both Gietzmann and Elliott.
Mount Waverley Secondary College’s Gietzmann started playing cricket at the young age of nine.
The pace bowler has shown her worth earning selection at Box Hill Cricket Club as well as in the VicSpirit Pathway Program and for Victoria’s under-15 representative team.
On debut for Box Hill, Gietzmann scalped 6-8 from 7.3 overs in the 50-over format.
In 2012, Maribyrnong College’s Elliot earned glory, participating as a member of Victoria’s Under-17 National Championship title win.
Playing in Melbourne Cricket Club’s second XI side, the pace bowler was also invited to trail for Victoria’s under-19 representative team before breaking his hand in the process.
Hosted by Australian swimming champion Nicole Livingstone, the Victorian School Sports Awards aims to celebrate the achievements of Victoria’s brightest young school sport stars.
The partnership between Cricket Victoria (CV) and SSV continues to assist in the development of the state’s future cricketers, providing an opportunity for students to represent their state, keep active and learn the importance of teamwork, respect and resilience.
“The partnership with School Sport Victoria (SSV) is crucial not only from a player development perspective but also from a participation perspective,” Cricket Victoria’s General Manager Game and Market Development Rohan O’Neill said.
“CV has an extremely strong relationship with SSV in supporting SSV cricket programs and in delivering the state-wide school participation program, MILO T20BLAST.
“It is important that there is recognition of such achievements and I’m sure we’ll hear more about these four cricketers as they develop further.”
Cricket Victoria would like to congratulate Clementine, Tom, Isabella and Kieran on their achievements.
