World Cup trophy tour hits Victoria

As the fourth stop in the trophy tour, hundreds from the Geelong cricket community flocked to the Gardens to embrace the festivities, including having their photo taken with the trophy, inflatable nets, competitions and more.

On the day, Cricket Victoria Chief Executive Officer Tony Dodemaide and Game and Market Development General Manager Rohan O’Neill were both in attendance to show their support for the event along with City of Greater Geelong Sport and Recreation Portfolio Holder John Irving.

“We have been working closely with Cricket World Cup to bring the tour to various locations across Victoria, providing the cricket community with a unique opportunity to view the 2015 trophy ahead of the tournament,” O’Neill said.

“On behalf of Cricket Victoria, I would like to thank the councils, clubs and volunteers involved who have played an integral role in coordinating and ensuring that the tour runs successfully.”

Cricket World Cup created the trophy tour to coincide with 100 days to go to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.

The tour started on December 16 in Bendigo with the remaining locations being Traralgon (Dec 22), MCG (Dec 23), Shepparton (Dec 29), Wodonga (Dec 30) and Kinglake (Jan 15).
