Box Hill and Essendon Maribyrnong Park aim for T20 title

The Mustangs, who finished on top of the Twenty20 table with 26 points, defeated the Bombers in last year’s Final by just 12 runs.

Essendon Maribyrnong Park’s hopes of reclaiming the title they won in 2012-13 will be led by their contingent of Commonwealth Bank VicSpirit players, Molly Strano, Briana Binch, Kristen Beams, Emily McIntyre and Emma Kearney.

Australian and Victorian captain Meg Lanning will skipper the Mustangs alongside her VicSpirit teammates Anna Lanning and Cassie Brock.
Box Hill suffered a loss in their most recent Twenty20 with Prahran passing the Mustangs’ total in the final over.

In that match the two Lanning sisters, Meg and Anna, combined for 109 runs out of the team’s total of 129 and they will be key wickets for the Bombers’ bowlers on Sunday.

Meg Lanning is the leading run-scorer in the series with 176 runs, at an average of 58.67, with Essendon Maribyrnong Park’s Nat Schilov second with 163.

The Bombers’ strength this season has been the evenness of their bowling attack with five bowlers, Binch, Jane Neil, Strano, Steph Townsend and Beams all claiming over five wickets.

The T20 Premier First Final begins at 2.30pm with the Premier Seconds Final to be played before at 11am.
