Five Vics in U18 Talent Camp Squad
The players were identified by the Youth Selection Panel, which includes former Commonwealth Bank VicSpirit coach Cathryn Fitzpatrick and national Selector Avril Fahey, following the National Under-15 and Under-18 Championships.
The talent camp will be held at CA’s Centre of Excellence (COE) in Brisbane from September 20 to 24, 2013.
The talent camp will expose the 19 players to the national system for the first time and will see them undergo a range of tests, specialist skills training, psychological profiling, education sessions as well as matches, under the management of specialist coaches.
Commenting on the squad, Fitzpatrick said: “The talent camp provides an exciting pathway into the Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars and Shooting Stars Squads.
“It was just over a year ago that Holly Ferling was a member of the Under-18 Talent Camp Squad and she has since gone on to debut for both Queensland and Australia with great success.
“While not all players will make such a rapid rise through the ranks, they will be given an extra layer of support to further enhance the work they carry out in their state systems,” Fitzpatrick said.
