Under-14 Female State Champs kick off

The morning’s games saw North East Knights, Northern Falcons, Northern Rivers, Western Waves, South East Sharks, Gippsland Pride, South East Bayside Breakers and Inner South East Scorpions pick up their first win.

An all round impressive individual performance from Western Waves’ Rosie Wynd saw her make 40* with the bat and then back it up with 3-14 with the ball in the performance of the morning.

North East Knights Paris Crelley scored an impressive 40* in her side’s victory over Mallee Murray Heat.

Outer East’s Tess Flintoff retired on 42* in her team’s loss to the Northern Falcons where Emma Sands also got 40* (retired) for the winning side.

In the afternoon matches, we saw North East Knights, Outer East Eagles, Northern Rivers, Western Spirit, South East Sharks, Southern Pioneers, South East Bayside Breakers and Inner South East Scorpions claim victories.

Northern Rivers all-rounder Mardi Petherick was the best performer in the afternoon matches, making 27 with the bat and then finishing with figures of 2-1 in her side’s victory.

After getting 40* in the morning’s game, North East Knights’ Paris Crelley couldn’t stop scoring runs collecting another 40* in her team’s win over the Northern Falcons.

North East Wizard Eve Sheehan retired on 41* in the Wizards’ total of 6-115, which was surpassed by Scarlett Saxon-Jones (41*) in Western Spirit’s successful chase.

Kate Douglas was the main destroyer for her Northern Rivers outfit, collecting 3-17 off her three overs to help bowl the Western Waves out for 88.

Lets hope for some better weather tomorrow for the girls as they head into round three of the State Championships.
