Victorian under-18s remain undefeated
Victoria defeated Tasmania in the morning game by 54 runs and then defeated the Victorian Invitational XI by 44 runs in the afternoon game.
Kiara Jones bowled an impressive spell of T20 bowling in Victoria’s morning game as she ended the innings with figures of three overs, two maidens, 2-2.
In the field, Victoria were sharp, picking up two run outs during Tasmania’s innings to help restrict them to 8-28 at the end of their 20 overs.
With the bat, none of the girls really got going for Victoria with the top score of the innings being 14 from wicket keeper Annabel Martin.
The girls battled through to 7-82, which proved to be enough as the girls, won comfortably in the end.
In the afternoon game, it was the battle between big sister and little sister for bragging rights.
Victoria claimed a win after posting 7-83 with the bat and then restricting the Victorian Invitational XI to 6-39.
Georgia Wareham played a powerful innings of 24 off just 19 balls that included some powerful slog sweeping.
Wareham was the only play for Victoria to reach double figures in the innings.
With the ball for the Victorian Invitational XI, Elly Donald bowled well to end her four over spell with figures of 2-13.
Victorian Invitational XI skipper Kaitlyn Kile fought hard with the bat for her team to end the innings 18*.
Wareham just backed up her batting performance with four overs 2-4, which was supported well by Hayleigh Brennan who took 2-2 off her three overs.
Victoria Invitational XI’s morning match was against South Australia and sadly the girls went down by eight wickets.
Elly Donald top scored for the Victorian Invitational XI with 15 off 20 balls, and was supported in the innings by Sophie Van De Heuvel who made 13 off 16 deliveries.
