A glim day

Having won the toss and elected to bowl, Victoria was immediately put on the back foot after a solid start from the Northern Territory openers.

A 58-run partnership from Mitchell Taylor-Briscoe (46) and Brandon King (28) guided the Territory’s innings to a score of 3-111.

In reply, Victoria got off to a shaky start, losing 3-36.

Captain Ben Abbatangelo (24) and Alex Kerr (20*) tried to lift the run rate, however, it wasn’t enough for the Victorians who fell seven runs short of victory.

In their second game, Victoria lost the toss and was sent into field by New South Wales.

Off to a good start, Victoria looked promising in the attack, claiming 2-32 in the opening overs.

A half-century from NSW captain Jeff Cook (53) saw the run rate lift with their total rising to 6-140.

With support from Rohan Wight (2-27), Abbatangelo lead the bowling attack, taking 3-27 from four overs.

In return, Wight (55) and Abbatangelo (20) again led from the front, combining for a 42-run partnership.

However, a potent NSW bowling line-up saw them restrict Victoria to 115.

“It was a disappointing day for the guys but we will look to get back on track when we face Western Australia on Thursday night,” Abbatangelo said.
