Noogal squad hits the 鈥楪

Celebrating NAIDOC week, the session was split into two sections; a skills training session and a cultural workshop.

Cricket Victoria held the session to give players the opportunity to embrace their culture while developing their cricket skills in a professional environment.

“We are very mindful that this program has been the pathway for most of our Imparja Cup players and hopefully some of these kids will be a part of the next wave to come through the ranks,” InfoReady Imparja Cup captain Ben Abbatangelo said.

Commonwealth Bank Bushranger Jayde Herrick was in attendance at the skills session along with the Commonwealth Bank VicSpirit’s Molly Strano and Anna Lanning to share experiences and give tips to the budding cricketers.

“It was great to see such high skill levels from the girls,” Lanning said.

Following the skills session, the squads engaged in a cultural workshop to learn more about their Indigenous heritage.

With a great turnout at the training session,  the Noogal Toengorrt Tani team looks forward to the 2014 Imparja Cup and will aim to field its first ever squad of Indigenous girls.
