SEDA nominated for gongs

Abbatangelo has been nominated for the 2013 Victorian Koorie student of the year award, which recognises the hard work and achievements made within the vocational education and training sector.

Abbatangelo’s experiences in the program assisted him to develop the skills required to be successful in his transition into the workforce asCommunity Program Officer at Cricket Victoria.

“The beauty of the SEDA program is that all the training is relevant and transferable into everyday life and the pathway to my current job at Cricket Victoria,” Abbatangelo said.

“I have utilised off the job training in and implemented this it into my everyday working life. The benefits of this training were gaining an understanding of the theory behind the prac.”

Meanwhile, SEDA and Cricket Australia has been announced as a finalist in the 2013 Industry Collaboration award.

The Industry collaboration award provides validation for how SEDA’s innovative training in partnership with Cricket Australia and Cricket Victoria has benefited the community.

Now in its seventh year, the program boasts 400 cricket students who deliver more than 130,000 experiences annually in Victorian primary schools, including Special Development, English Language Schools and many schools without permanent physical education staff.

The award winners will be announced on Friday, September 6, and if successful, will go on to represent Victoria at the Australian Training awards in Perth on November 22.
