Cricket Victoria and CitiPower extend partnership

The new three-year agreement will see CitiPower remain as the naming rights partner for Victoria’s flagship cricket facility and as major partner of the Victorian men’s team.

The news will bring the partnership between Cricket Victoria and CitiPower to eight years.

In addition to the major partnership with Cricket Victoria, CitiPower has invested more than $280,000 back into the cricket community through its highly successful Canteen Grants Program.

The program provides funding opportunities for cricket clubs to replace electrical equipment or to complete important electrical safety upgrades.

CitiPower Chief Executive Officer Tim Rourke said the partnership also continues to deliver opportunities for cricket, with every day and elite players sharing the centre of excellence of the CitiPower Centre.

“The CitiPower Centre has established itself as Melbourne’s community cricket hub. Over 100 clubs use our facilities for training, and over 10,000 visitors poured through the gates on match day in 2023 to enjoy each of the games on offer,” Mr Rourke said.

“Cricket Victoria shares our proud commitment in giving back to the communities in which we live and operate within, focusing on embracing the diversity of our state and ensuring that access to cricket and world-class training facilities is accessible to all.”

Cricket Victoria Chief Executive Officer Nick Cummins welcomed the news.

“CitiPower has been part of the Cricket Victoria family since the doors first opened on the new CitiPower Centre back in 2018 and our relationship has gone from strength to strength,” Mr Cummins said.

“The CitiPower Centre has hosted many matches and events over that five-year period: International cricket, World Cups, BBL, WBBL and state cricket right through to charity matches to support bushfire relief.”

“CitiPower continues to share our passion for growing communities through cricket. Their long-term commitment to the CitiPower Centre is testament to the beliefs and values we share as organisations.”

“CitiPower’s support has also been key for our men’s squad as they continue to compete for domestic titles, and we deliver more Australian players. I look forward to working with Tim and his team on the next evolution of our relationship,” Mr Cummins said.

CitiPower, Powercor and United Energy own and operate the distribution network (“poles and wires”) that delivers electricity to 2 million residential and business customers across metropolitan and regional Victoria.
