With the clouds closing in on the ground, Victoria won the toss and elected to bat, posting 6-115 off their 20 overs, while NSW Academy only got to face 5.3 overs where they managed 3-24 before being rained off.

Victorian skipper Teagan Brett played a true captain’s knock for her side ending the innings 40* off just 39 deliveries, which included five boundaries.

After a quickfire 25 in the earlier T20 against Tasmania, Annabel Sutherland continued her great day by adding 34 at the top of the order.

The side ended their innings at 6-115 and the clouds were approaching rather quickly.

Maddison Baird got Victoria started first ball of the innings when she bowled NSW Academy opener Lara Graham.

Baird didn’t stop there with the weather closing in; she ended up with 3-12 off her three overs before only the weather could stop her.

The players had to come off during the sixth over, as the rain and thunder started to fall.

The umpires deemed the lightning and storms around were to heavy and called the game off, which handed Victoria its third win in as many matches.

Victoria will now face New South Wales Metropolitan in the final round of the National Championships, and look to win their fourth game of the Championships in tomorrow’s one-day match.
