Victoria’s title bid

Victoria’s title bid

Having won the toss and electing to bat, some aggressive running between the wickets saw Queensland race to 1-71.

A handy spell from Nivan Sathyajith (2-12 from eight overs) and support from Caleb Serong (2-24 from eight) saw Victoria steady.

However, an unbeaten 76 from Harry Austin saw Queensland complete its innings on 6-171.

In reply, Victoria made a watchful start before openers Patrick Rowe (68) and Dominic Bandara (60*) combined for a game-winning 104-run partnership.

Upon Rowe’s dismissal, captain Fergus O’Neill (12) took to the crease for a small cameo.

However, it was Alex Cesarios (20*) who joined Bandara to pile on the winning runs, with Victoria completing its innings on 2-172.

Victoria can secure this year’s title with a victory against the ACT today.
