Knights joust their way to victory

Chasing 221 for victory, the Knights were in trouble at 2-17 before Melville (100) and Galvin (53) combined for their epic stand.

James Cousins would finish the job to ensure the Knights remain unbeaten in Pool C.

In a match dominated by batsmen, a half-century from Brad Jones (63) anchored the Spirit innings.

Dasith Jayatilake (29) and Adam Korsak (31) provided able support, but ultimately it proved to be not enough.

In other matches, four top-order contributions and four wickets to Isaac Love saw the Gippsland Pride score 213 and a resounding victory against the South East Sharks.

Half-centuries to Ryan Quirk and Joshua Battle wasn’t enough to save the Southern Pioneers from their second consecutive defeat, this time to the South East Bayside Breakers.

Patrick Gheller scored 65 to anchor the chase before Chris Diggle saw the Breakers home.

Luke Inglis (130) helped the Barwon Rockets to 254 and a 52-run victory against the Outer East Eagles.

Inglis would also claim three wickets (3-35) in partnership with Darcy Pearson (4-18) to cap off a high-scoring affair that saw the Eagles bowled out for 202.

A solid bowling performance from the Inner East Emus saw them reduce the Western Waves to 118 on their way to a comfortable win.

With six wicket takers, they reduced the Waves to 8/43 before a half-century to Emus wicket-keeper Lewis English (80) put the stamp on an emphatic victory.

A half-century to Kevin Spaull (71) led the North West Wizards to victory over Central Highlands.

Jonathan Merlo snared 4-22 to ensure the Highlands were never in the hunt.

A half-century to Thaveesh Attanayake and contributions from Noah Korkolis and James Wiseman led the Inner South East Scorpions to 9-184 and victory against the Northern Falcons.

In reply, the Falcons looked good at 2-106 before they lost 8-43 thanks to Jim Cowie (3-11), James Halse (2-29) and Jack Gilbert (3-20)

Half-centuries to Beau Rinaldi (71) and Ryan Hartley (59) saw Northern Rivers clinch a comfortable victory over the Mallee Murray Bulls.

Only skipper Jonty Chaproniere was able to provide resistance as they were dismissed for 139 against an even and balanced bowling performance.
