Sutherland hat trick helps 15s to victory

Batting first, Victoria managed to reach 144 before being bowled out, but in reply, NSW Metropolitan could only manage 90.

The story of the match was Victoria’s Annabel Sutherland who had been batting really well during the tournament but decided to change it up with the ball.

Sutherland took no time getting into the action, picking up a hat trick in her first over.

Not content with one of the better overs in cricket, Sutherland continued to torment NSW Metropolitan, finishing with figures of 5-2 off just two and a bit overs.

With the bat, it was a return to her early tournament form for Sophie Van de Heuvel, who finished with 42 off 57 deliveries that included five boundaries.

Zoe Griffiths and Sutherland got the girls off to a solid start with a partnership of 40 for the first wicket.

Sutherland finished up with 18 before she was caught, whilst Griffiths worked hard for her 28.

A fourth win for the Victorian girls sees them finish the National Championships with four wins and three losses from their seven matches.

They will play today in a playoff for third place.
