Victoria’s Invitational claims win

Having lost the toss and being sent into field, the Invitational team started slowly, with the ACT putting on an opening stand of 65.

After Tahleah Ticehurst (1-9) broke the partnership, the Invitational team managed to restrict the ACT to 5-113 after 35 overs.

Wickets were shared amongst the group with Tenushi Perera (1-13), Sarah Sansonetti (1-3) and Merinda Hale (1-15) also contributing.

In reply, the Invitational team lost early wickets, reducing them to 3-12.

However, strong batting performances from Imogen Barlow (28), Alannah Dahlsen (18) and Keira Morely (14) saw the team register its first win of the tournament, completing its innings on 8-148.

The Victorian girls’ team could not emulate the Invitational team’s result, suffering its second loss of the tournament.

Being sent into field by New South Wales, Victoria started well with the ball, claiming 3-21.

However, a knock of 43 from Rachel Trenaman steadied the NSW ship, leading the Blues to 7-84.

Victoria again shared the wickets with Clementine Ryan-Fuller (2-22), Teagan Brett (1-9), Annabel Sutherland (1-6), Amelia Reilly (1-6) and Rosie Wynd (1-9) all claiming scalps.

In response, Victoria started its innings well, with Sutherland (10) and Brett (36) combining for a 45-run partnership.

At 3-52 Victoria looked like they were on track for a victory before a collapse of 7-23 saw the team dismissed for 75.

Victoria will look to bounce back when it faces the ACT today, while the Invitational team will clash with Queensland.
