Wizards cast a spell on Dowling Shield

Aaron Austin led the Wizard attack with 4-15 from nine overs as the Knights’ batting order crumbled to be all out for 87 in the 44th over.

In reply, the Wizards passed the total with the loss of three wickets and went on to score 8-233 from their allotted overs thanks to contributions from Jared Keenan (43) and Matthew Sipala (43) among others.

The win meant that the Wizards leapfrogged the Knights to the top of Pool C.

In other results, Southern Pioneers have taken top spot in Pool A with a 24-run victory over Gippsland Pride in a high scoring affair.

Joshua Battle (70) and Abhijit Das (56) led the Pioneers at the top of the order, while Jackson McMahon scored 72 in what was ultimately a losing battle for the Pride.

South East Bayside Breakers have crushed the South East Sharks by 105 runs, thanks to a fantastic all round performance from Damon Egan.

Egan took 3-3 from two overs as the Sharks were skittled for 81, before combining with Christopher Diggle for a 135-run partnership to guide the Breakers past the target on their way to 5-186 from their 50 overs.

Barwon Rockets have won a high-scoring affair against the Western Waves by 15 runs.

Half-centuries to Cael Fisher (65) and Joseph Vallelonga (62), along with skipper Byron Taylor (46) helped the Rockets 7-259.

In reply, Nick King made a fine century (103) and shared a 145 run partnership with Angus Boyd (83) as the Waves sat at 2-207, before they lost 7-37 and limped to 9-244.

The Inner East Emus cruised to the top of Pool B with an easy win over the Outer East Eagles.

Brodie McLaughlin took 4-15 as the Eagles were routed for 92, before Zac Elliott scored 64 and shared a 70 run partnership with skipper Campbell Lane as they guided the Emus to 7-203.

Central Highlands scored themselves a comfortable victory over the Western Spirit.

A blistering spell from openers Mitchell Lewis and Ryan Baker left the Spirit at 3-16, a spot they never really recovered from as they were bowled out for 136.

Jakob Tidyman and Jack Lalor put on 120 runs for the first wicket to ensure the Highlands were never in danger of losing.

Northern Rivers claimed a hard-fought victory over Inner South East Scorpions to take second spot in Pool D.

Chasing 181, the game was precariously poised at 4-72 before Cade Mueller (69) and Ryan Hartley (59) put on a 119-run partnership to guide the Rivers to 5-205 after Alex Ross brought up his half-century (56) for the Scorpions.

Finally, Northern Falcons secured first spot in Pool D with an easy victory over the Mallee Murray Bulls.

With four batsmen passing 30, the Falcons made 9-230 and were never challenged by the Bulls who failed to get going, limping to 9-135.
