That winning feeling

Defending 284, Geelong paceman Trent Walerys, who struck in the shadows of stumps on day one, removed the top-order to finish with 3-49 from 23 overs including 11 maidens.

Walerys received strong support from Swan Hill all-rounder Leigh Kentish, who captured 4-52 from 14.1 overs.

Mornington Peninsula’s Dwayne Doig (2-31) and Justin Grant (1-22) joined the wicket-takers’ list as the Territorians were rolled for 232.

Victoria peeled off 0-49 from 14 overs in the second innings courtesy of Mornington Peninsula’s Rob Hearn (26*) and Geelong’s Eamon Vines (19*) before stumps were finally drawn.

Having failed to fire on home soil last season, the new-look Victorian side will be full of confidence ahead of its second round fixture against Western Australia on Sunday.
