Victorians roar at Junior Indoors

After eight matches the team stands undefeated, with captain Mackenzie Harvey (141 runs) and Ryan Peter-Budge (140 runs) currently leading the way.

Although there have been some standout individual performances, under-13 coach Mark Krell noted that it was a team effort currently has them in first position.

“The boys go out there as a team and there is a lot of support within the group,” Krell said.

In their first competition playing together, the under-13s team is not thinking about the possibility of winning the title.

“If we execute our skills and play as a team then winning and losing will just take care of itself,”  Krell said.

For the under-17 boys, the Australian Junior Championships has proven to be a testing time.

Sitting in third position on three wins and four losses, the team has lost its last three games on the last ball.

“It’s been frustrating for the boys but it’s a good learning experience,” under-17 Team Manager Paul Gilchrist said.

“It’s been a really good competition so far and there isn’t a lot between the sides.”

In other divisions, the under-15 boys sit in sixth position, while the under-17s girls are placed fourth and sixth.

The Australian Junior Championships will conclude Saturday, July 6.
